Bullying, a issue that is more serious then you think.

When we think about bullying we don’t think of it as such a big deal. We don’t think about it as resulting in that serious of an issue. Like cruel things don’t happen. Some girls kept harassing and stalking her because she dated the popular football player. Phoebe Prince of Massachusetts committed suicide on January 14, 2010, because the harassment was so bad. Then after Phoebe killed herself they posted on her Facebook wall “Accomplished .” This behavior is cruel and unfair. Bullying is a very serious issue. There have been recent issues at this school of bullying. It caused some people to even move high schools because of it.

  2. This is a great way to spread out the news that bullying is not "cool". Everyone needs to stop. What I really want to say is "Why cant we all just get along?" Unfortunaley, it doesnt work that way. Well were gonna have to make it work! We should start a revolution! Bullying is like a disease and we have to find a cure.

R.I.P Precious Pheobe Prince = you are now free of all the horrible torture Enjoy your life with God.

  3. I definitely agree with both of you. It is a big issue in many schools for many reasons. It should be stopped. I joined the group on Facebook and also have donated to that charity. Even at Lakeland their was bullying and 9, 10, 11 year olds are bullied and talked about killing them selves to make everyones life better and i don't think that people need to get a reality check on how words can affect people.

  4. Melissa,

Thank you for bringing this issue to everyone's attention. I agree with Chanty and Brianna that we have to do something to stop it.

What does everyone think would work and truly make an impact?

  5. Nothing would make an impact; its a matter of discretion. Administrators witness it, and sometimes dont do anything at all. In history, it is said that when parents or administrators get involved, the situation gets worse; thats not true at all, a 16 year old girl hung herself, whats gonna be the wake up call? A blog is a good way to express the way we feel about the scenario, but its not going to help, although i wish it would.

On the Phoebe deal:a message the parents of the children being charged- great job in raising such shallow, horrible and disgusting children.
You make society rot, and justify such a horrific act? The video tells it all:

  6. I find that the degree to which she was bullied quite horrid and even more so the fact that cruel acts of bullying occur everyday. I find that those who bully others are inflicting their personal insecurities upon others, now unfortunately this particular case of bullying led to the death of Phoebe Prince and we are now all asking ourselves what we can do to prevent the bullying. I personally believe bullying happens and its not in our control, and there is a part of my mind that then says we are looking in the wrong direction when we think stopping bullying before it starts is the only solution. I believe another issue in this case is negligence, a teacher, a parent, a local community member, ANYONE should have taken action and reached out to Phoebe offering her help. Bullying occurs all over every day and that is hard to control, what we can do is simply be kind so that the effect of bullying on an individual doesn't lead to such a terrible end. If we are more noticing of the emotions of those around us and compassionate enough to help them then we can at least make a good start to reducing the problem of the effects of bullying.
