LeBron James is one of the greatest known players in the NBA, but very few people actually know about him. In my opinion, the best part of LeBron's life would be his earlier years. In High School, LeBron was being interviewed by Sports Illustrated and ESPN. I wonder what he was feeling in those four years of high school. During his four years he won three state championships and he was the leader of his high school team. I would like to know how he balanced those unknown hurdles, because teenagers rarely see those opportunities, and they do not experience the pressure of making the tough decisions like LeBron had to make. The book also goes into detail about his more recent achievements in the NBA, from scoring awards, to other great awards that he has received throughout the years. Although LeBron is not my favorite player in the league, I respect him and everything else that he has done for the game of basketball.
This seems like a perfect book for you, you play basketball. I bet a lot of the things that was said in this book, you can relate to. I wonder what his toughest desicion he had to make?
ReplyDeleteYea I think about that desicion to and what kind of thing he had to consiter also. Hey but thats for commenting!
ReplyDeleteUsually, I would see the title of this book and immediately think, "Oh, basketball star, figures." But I am starting to realize that even LeBron has a story to tell and lessons to share. I have goals, lots of them, and I dream about being in the spotlight someday. But I also think about what might happen once I became that famous person. I think about how difficult it must have been for LeBron to make all kinds of decisions. Young stars have it rough too. There is the feeling of accomplishment and content, but there is also stress and a feeling that people are always criticizing you. In the book, did LeBron's personality change when he became a huge basketball star? I think that is what scares me most about if I were to be a star.
ReplyDeleteI don't think his personality changed but i do think that the way he thinks about stuff did and how much he has matured over the years has becuase of what he has experienced.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a Ben book. I love how you stated that he is not your favorite player, but highly respect him and his descisons in life. Did it mention anything about his actual school grades/ how he did academically? Did he have any trouble with friends and balancing basketball and school? I would think that becoming a star would change your whole life because you are always being watched. Did he have any troubles with the media? I know lots of questions, but I do not follow basketball so this is all new and pretty interesting to me. Over all well done!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Madison about the trouble balancing school and basketball. I bet that was difficult. And I bet he matured a lot through his experiences. It's good to hear that his personality didn't change because you have to stay true to yourself and that is difficult with the pressures of fame and media. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteBesides Kobe Bryant, Kwame Brown, and Kevin Garnett he is one of the only really successful ball players that didn't go to college. I agree with your review. It was in-depth and caught all the good points while still making it short and sweet. Good job, Ben.
