This book made me realize that drug addiction is on of the most powerful things to overcome. I read A Million Little Pieces, which is about a person overcoming a crack addiction, and him and Nic have the same opinions, and problems with drugs. Nic Sheff was a good kid, then started using Methamphetamines. He recently was sober for over a year when he went to college, but then returned to San Francisco, and started using again. Now however, he does a lot more then meth. He does cocaine, meth, heroin, and a lot of pills. He keeps trying to kick his habits, but it is next to impossible, and each time relapsing puts his closer to his death. This makes me never want to touch drugs, and has inspired me to be a good kid.

  4. I still have not read A Million Little Peices, it is on my list of books to read next, so this is just another book that I am going to have to read. Did Nic ever recover from his drug addictions? or is it just a story that has no releiving ending to it?

  5. Good job, Mike. You might want to read "Beautiful Boy' because it is the same story but told by Nic's dad, who went through this terrible time with him. It was so hard for both of them in different ways.

  6. I like how you related this story to another that you have read. From reading your blog I think this book would have such a powerful meaning of what your life could be if you make the right choices. Did Nic have support or people around him to help him break his addiction? I bet that if he did he would have had a much easier time stopping his bad habits.....Over all, great job Michael!

  11. This post makes me want to read this story. It makes me feel bad for all those drug addicts out there, and makes me want to stay away from those kind of people. I like how you compared this story to another one you read. Great job. Keep it up.

  13. One thing I'm wondering is does this book talk about the characters personal struggle or does it also discuss the effects his addiction has on those around him? Because I know addiction of any sort, be it gambling, alcohol, or drugs can have a seriously harmful impact on relationships and can just tear apart the people who love the addict.
