Ty Desjarlais~Midnighters: The Secret Hour

Title: Midnighters: The Secret Hour

Author: Westerfield

Number of Pages: 297

Rating: 9

The book I read The Secret Hour is about a girl named Jessica Day. She moved to Bixby with her mom, dad and sister. While she is here she has a “dream” where everything is frozen in time. As time goes on she learns it’s not a dream but its real life. It’s called the secret hour because long ago the darkness was pushed back farther and farther and to escape human problems they created Blue Time. Only a few humans can enter the blue time and they have to be born at that instant (Midnight). As she learns about the others powers the darklings try to kill her, and they try and find her power, turns out she has the greatest power out of all of them. While reading this book I learned that people can act completely different then what they look like on the outside. Also I learned not to estimate people’s limits in what they can do. I am going to read the whole series because I like it that much.

  1. Ty, this book seems interesting. But was it difficult to follow? I'm sure that I would like it from the description that you gave, but I remember someone telling me that it was confusing. What do you think? Wouldn't it be cool if as humans, we could freeze time, or if we could enter that Blue Time. I can just imagine all the powers and all the things that I would do if I had that ability.

  2. i would have to agree with Megan, Midnighters did sound a tad confusing. But i do like how you say people can be completely diffrent on the inside then the outside. therefore i shouldn't judge this book by it's cover. maybe i'll give it a go! (:

  3. Yeah I agree with both of you. It can be confusing at times. But other then that it's a very fast paced book. It's a series and I'm reading the second one and it's alot clearer now then it was in the first book. You should deffinetly try reading it. :)

  4. I definitely think I will try this book. And I like the fact that it's fast paced, because otherwise I am a very unsuccessful reader. HAHA. I also like the series that keeps you going and events from the past start making more sense. Sounds awesome!
