Beautiful Creatures

Ethan Wate doesn't have to be psychic to predict what's going to happen in his small town called Gatlin. The events are basically written in the school handbook. It's a boring town with boring people. That is, until Lena Duchannes moved to Gatlin. Lena is immediately shunned by her classmates and everyone else in town because of her family's past and her awkwardness. Lena Duchannes is very unique and very un-human. And that's exactly what caught Ethan's eye. But when Lena's powers are revealed to Ethan; secrets began to unravel, curses began to unfold, and people would not stay dead when they should be. But, Ethan and Lena doesn't let this happen. They must beat their unfortunate fate and prove that love isn't dangerous and meaningless; it's a beautiful thing.

Beautiful Creatures was worth-reading and I thought the book was very interesting. However, it really didn't have the most original plot and storyline and it felt like I've read the book before, which isn't a good thing. Though that is the only setback the book has that made me cringe. But when I was reading this book, it made me think how disgusting people get when they base you off from where you came from and the mistakes that you didn't even make. It's mind blowing how we, as people, treat each other now. It made me think if humans weren't like that, would the world be better? I'm still trying to find an answer... Overall, the book was good and I enjoyed it, even if it has a few glitches. I would recommend this book to people who loves southern mysteries and folklores, and maybe even romance. And if anyone likes a gothic and dark setting, this would definitely be the number one choice. Even if it has a few setbacks, give it a try because it's really not that bad for a 563 page book.

  1. It sounds like you would LOVE a favorite of mine......"Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier. It seems to me, based on your review, that it'd be a great book for you!

  3. Great job explaining how people can be so mean to one another. I also don't understand how people can be so cruel. I loved how you explained the good things and bad things about this book. I might have to read it even though it is a big book.
